I write one movie review every Friday. It may also go up to two or three movie reviews over the weekend. Every Friday review is usually a First Day First Show.

Movie Review - Phata Poster Nikla Hero

Watched " Phata Poster Nikhla Hero " - A small budget movie starring Shahid Kapoor and Ileana Dcruz and directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. The mediocre script and direction fails to do justice to Shahid's talent. This can be rated as Shahid Kapoor's best performance till date though it is in a losing cause. Ileana does not have much of a screen presence. The songs have already become chart busters. The screenplay is so goofed up at places that you feel at times that you are watching a B grade movie. If you must watch it for Shahid's acting and for the sake of the songs that are well shot.

Kataldhar trek - Sep 13

Last Sunday it was a trek to Kataldhar waterfall with the Explorers. We took the Rajmachi route from lonavala and then took a diversion into the forest. This waterfall is the one which is visible from the road enroute to Udhewadi village. This trek is not difficult but you can get lost if not taken precaution. The base of the waterfall is beautiful with a stream flowing into a small pond which is 5 feet deep and isgood for taking a dip. Going directly into the base of the waterfall can be dangerous as the drop of the water is quite huge. A good spot for camping or a one day picnic which is unspoiled, atleast for now.

Movie review - Besahram

First Day First Show : " BESHARAM " - It fails to meet the huge anticipation associated with it. A routine script involving drama, romance and action. Ranbir Kapoor has given a pretty decent performance given the fact that there is very less scope. Australian born NRI beauty Pallavi Sharda shows some spark. The first half is quite boring with endless song sequences and the screenplay looks pretty ordinary. The second half builds up the tempo with some action, drama add to it the chemistry between Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh - Kapoor. Especially there are some action scenes picturised on Rishi. There is nothing to die for in this movie hence go for it at your own convenience. It is a huge disappointment for people who were expecting something different after Rockstar, Barfi and YJHD. Maybe the idea of working with his parents made RK bite the bait. Watch it for the sake of RK's effort and for the bonding between the Kapoor's.

Trek mid review

9 months into 2013 and I have completed 27 treks till date in this year. The target was 30 when I started off in January, later revised to 40 and then to 50. With 13 weekends left in this year 40 is very much attainable but what i would like to achieve is 50 treks in one calendar year. The conquest of Satara should help me in meeting that target.

Vikatgad(Peb ) with Garbett point ( Matheran ) trek - Oct 13

Was feeling down last Saturday for missing the Lonavala -Bhimashankar trek. One which I really wanted to do. So I thought I must do something innovative on Sunday to make up for it. A frnd got in touch and thats how 3 of us Adarsh, Vishal and I planned to trek to Vikatgad (Peb) a fort near Matheran. We met at Sai Shraddha hotel outside Neral station where I had a plate each of idli wada and batata wada sambar. There is a reason for mentioning this. We hired an auto from Neral to the base village. My friends had done this trek earlier and knew the route. I was doing it for the first time and had to merely follow them. The adventure began right from the base village. Instead of starting from Fanaswadi we started from Takachiwadi. We lost our way on atleast 3 occassions and had to cross some difficult rock patches and make our own way until we connected to the right route. At one point of time we even thought we were lost but we were not to lose hope. We had two landmarks in mind one was an electricity tower on a plateau and other an V shaped valley which helped us make our way through the dense forest and take a traverse on a hill. Peb is known for the temple of goddess Pebi and as a meditation place of Swami Samarth. This trek became a challenge for me due to no mercy shown by the rain god and the sambar that was jumping in my stomach. It was an amazing feeling when we reached the top. The foggy sky, the green mountains. After having a quick snack we proceeded towards Matheran crossing one mountain to another through overgrown plants and there are two iron ladders on the way erected by the Britishers in those days. We reached Matheran and we were greeted by heavy showers. Before that we had to walk on the toy train track for about 3 kms and also got to watch the huge Kadyavarcha Ganapati. We continued our trek to Garbett point inspite of having a long day on the mountains. But it was a sight to behold. Amazing experience again in the fogs. After that we returned to base village Neral and had some tasty misal and fried rice again at Sai Shraddha hotel. Soon we took a local to go to our respective destinations with a feeling of a trek well done. Adarsh Hemrajani Vishal Vijay More
