I write one movie review every Friday. It may also go up to two or three movie reviews over the weekend. Every Friday review is usually a First Day First Show.

Movie Review - Rangrezz

Watched " RANGREZZ " - A violent story of friendship for somebody else's love. A new  concept brought in Indian cinema. The line ' Begaane shaadi mein Abdulla deewana ' perfectly fits the bill over here. As always Jackky Bhagnani is the cool dude who is ready to go to any limits for friendship. The story is about how his decision to help his friend turns into a nightmare for him and his closest buddies. A sacrifice given for a good cause all gone wrong. It's a decent performance by all the actors. It is good to see Rajpal Yadav after a long time doing what he is so good at.

Rajgad Trek - 24th March 2013

A Sunday well spent with an unplanned trek. Yesterday early morning I left home thinking that by evening I should have scaled Kalavantin Durg. But there was something else in store for me. The previous plan just did not take off and I did not want to insult the new hunter shoes that I was wearing. Hence started my bike and drove towards Gunjavane, the base of Rajgad. The majestic fort which was Shivaji Maharaj's capital before his coronation. As always reached Padmavati machi and had some nice pithala, bhakri with thecha. I had a lot of time in hand and since I was alone had to do something different. Hence visited Pali darwaza and was able to view the route leading to Torna. Many people were doing this route that too on a hot summer afternoon. After that I started towards Suvela Machi, the farthest point on east. It must have been a 5 mile walk. The last tower after Chilkhati Buruj. I had never been to this end before. On the way climbed up to the big crater in the wall. Later came back to the base of Bale killa and ascended the Bale killa at one go. In fact I was running while climbing the rock patch. No fear or worry unlike the last time. I had not slept the previous night hence my legs started feeling weak. I was dehydrated before the climb to bale killa as I was carrying only a single bottle of water. I had to purchase a bottle of buttermilk from a lady. After descending towards Padmavati machi took a nice power nap of 2 hours in the Padmavati temple. One glass of Kolhapuri special double sweet tea and I resumed my descend. I descended towards Gunjavane village in 30 mins approx and just before the dark. With a satisfied feeling of a good trek and a day well spent I was on my way to Pune.

Movie Review - Django Unchained

Watched " Django Unchained " - It is an American drama set in the 19th century. The plot involves the partnering of a slave and a bounty hunter. Christopher Waltz won the Oscar for the Best Supporting Actor for this movie. His language is impeccable and a treat for the ears. Jamie Foxx as the lead in the role of a slave has done a great job. Some good direction and fast paced screenplay by Quentin Tarantino who also won the Oscar for his efforts. The background score is also well composed. There is a lot of bloodshed though where crude guns are used. Unlike other Hollywood movies, this one's 180 minutes long. It would make for a good viewing.

Movie Review - Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D

A 3D horror movie. It's about a family that runs a slaughterhouse. The entire family is killed and a lone survivor goes about slaughtering  humans  like animals. That person goes about cutting humans with a chainsaw like as if he is cutting logs. There are gruesome scenes in this movie which take place in an mansion. In the end you feel sorry for the person who commits all the murder's. It has somewhat an happy ending which is kind of unusual. Do watch it. It is quite scary and worth your money.

Movie Review - Jolly LLB

Watched " Jolly LLB " - A courtroom drama. It is an insight into the judicial system of India. It could have been better. Arshad Warsi and Boman Irani are good in their performances. There are some light moments. But the proceedings shown in the court are not convincing. Watch it only if you want to.

Movie Review - Silver Linings Playbook

Watched " Silver Linings Playbook " - It is an awesome family drama starring Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence. Anupam Kher plays an Indian doctor. It's about two people who find comfort in each other while going through an emotional low time. The setting looks similar to a sitcom with all the characters. There is some good family bonding shown too. I loved the performance of Bradley and Jennifer. Miss Lawrence is cute n petite and I am glad she won the Oscar's for the Best Actress.

Movie Review - I, Me aur Main

Watched " I, Me aur Main " - John Abraham plays an irresponsible, self centered bachelor. Chitranagada Singh and Prachi Desai play the role of his girlfriends. Nothing much to say about the story. A light hearted drama good for couple viewing. John is the stud as usual and Chitrangadha and Prachi also look glam. It's all about taking the initiative, realising your dreams and being responsible.

Movie Review - The Attacks of 26/11

Watched " The Attacks of 26/11 " - One of the most sensible movies by RGV in recent times. It is based on the bloody terrorist attack that took place in Mumbai on 26th November 2008 and Nana Patekar plays a central role. As expected there is a lot of violence and expletives used throughout. The focus is not on the violence that took place that day but on the mindset and mannerisms of a terrorist. This movie has the power to reform a terrorist or a jihadi mind if watched once. Not recommended for children and the weak hearted.
