I write one movie review every Friday. It may also go up to two or three movie reviews over the weekend. Every Friday review is usually a First Day First Show.

Movie Review - A Good Day to Die Hard

Watched " A Good Day to Die Hard " - The tagline says Like Father Like Son Like Hell and the makers have proved it. It is an action packed drama based in Moscow. It sheds light on the Chernobyl disaster in the backdrop of a father-son relationship. Bruce Willis and Jai Courtney are too good as a team. There is nothing much to say about the script or plot. But should make for a good one time watch.

Movie Review - Murder 3

Watched " MURDER 3 " - It is good that Emran Hashmi is not a part of this cast. It wouldn't have done him any good. The casting made by the Bhatt's namely Randeep Hooda, Aditi Rao Hydari and Sophia Loren just seems to fit the bill right. The 3rd part is no match for the first 2 parts. The plot is not gripping or terrifying. But the climax is amazing and u just wouldn't have expected it. I'm sure it has been copied from some overseas flick. It is too good to be original. Other than that you can say this movie is just ok types.

Movie Review - Jai Maharashtra Dhaba, Bhatinda

Watched " Jai Maharashtra Dhaba, Bhatinda " - The third movie directed by Avadhoot Gupte. A romantic story set up in cultural conflicts. The sets are life size, good locations and music. But Gupte is not as effective as he was in his previous 2 outings. The marathi essence that the director wants to display seems to have lost in the un necessary song sequences. Hence there is a dilution of the social message that needs to be conveyed unlike Zenda and Morya which had a strong message for the society. The climax is unexpected and well planned.

Movie Review - Zero Dark Thirty

Watched " Zero Dark Thirty " - A movie based on the assassination of Osama Bin Laden and first hand accounts of the people involved in the entire operation. The perspective from a CIA viewpoint wherein it shows how the intelligence tails main members of Osama and locates his hideout eventually. There is nothing much in the plot or exciting to look forward to, maybe bcoz it is based on a true incident. For a change this hollywood flick is 165 mins long.

Movie Review - Jayantabhai ki luv story

Watched " Jayantabhai ki luv story " - A brainless and dumb movie from Taurani Bros of Tips Industries ltd. Romantic and comedy roles do not suit Viveik Oberoi at all. His performance is similar to his last movie KLPD and will meet the same fate, unless viewers fall for the marketing gimmicks. Neha Sharma is a bimbo and good only for body exposure. The pair is a mismatch and there is nothing to say about the story or screenplay. You can give it a miss.

Movie Review - Any Body Can Dance

Watched " Any Body Can Dance " - It is touted as India's first 3D Dance movie. But then dont forget this is bollywood and it ends in typical filmi style. Viewers who thought it was India's answer to the Step Up series will be disappointed. If u involve drama, sympathy, one sided love and the Gods, it takes away the very essence of the plot. Prabhu Deva has tried his best but he just can't deliver his dialogues right. Otherwise he has put in a lot of heart in this movie. His solo dance number is breathtaking and makes you ask for more. Ganesh Acharya has tried his hands at comedy and is successful to some extent. In short it is not an out n out dance movie but ends typically. It could make for a good watch.

Movie Review - Special Chabbis

Watched " Special Chabbis " - A well executed, interesting plot based on real life fake CBI raids that took place in the 1980s and 90s on various people in India who had unaccounted wealth. One such incident was the fake CBI raid on Tribhuvandas Bhimji Zaveri, Opera House branch, Mumbai in 1987. Most of these incidents went unreported to the police. It is a pleasure to watch Akshay Kumar, Manoj Bajpayee and Anupam Kher together for the first time. Kajal Aggarwal has a blink and miss role. The screenplay keeps you glued to your seat where you are left guessing the next move. It is good to see Akshay Kumar in a serious role after a long time other than performing some stunts, cracking some stupid jokes or singing songs and dancing. Something that we are used to watching. This movie carries no entertainment value and is directed by Neeraj Pandey the director of the runaway hit ' A Wednesday. It should make for a good watch this weekend.

Movie Review - Balak Palak

Watched " Balak Palak " - Riteish Deshmukh's first production venture in Marathi. The music has been composed by Vishal-Shekhar and Vishal has also sung a song in it. It has been directed by NATRANG and BALGANDHARV fame Ravi Jadhav. All the child actors display good acting skills. A sensitive subject well handled wherein how children behave while entering adolescence . Their quest to explore and gain knowledge on sexuality which leads to their indulgence in pornography. Elderly people will disapprove of the views presented and youngsters would relate to it. It is strictly not suitable for family viewing unless and until you share liberal views on sexuality. A must watch for parents who have children coming of age and youngsters will enjoy it. There are quite some funny moments

Movie Review - Premachi Goshta

Watched " Premachi Goshta " - A light hearted romance directed by ace director Satish Rajwade who had earlier also directed the superhit romantic movie Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai. The cast consists of an unusual pairing of Natarang fame Atul Kulkarni and Chak De girl Sagarika Ghatge. As always Atul is top class in his role and it is a pleasure to watch Sagarika for the first time in Marathi cinema. Satish plays an important role too. A common man's love story made on a small budget seems to be Mr Rajwade's forte. Watch it for the awesome heart touching dialogues and for the chemistry between the lead actors.

Movie Review - The Impossible

Watched " The Impossible " - Starring Naomi Watts and Ewan Mcgreggor in lead roles. It's about a family that is on a vacation that is on a holiday in Thailand. The Tsunami strikes their hotel and their struggle and fight for survival thereafter. The efforts of the mother and son are motivating. It's a sorry sight to watch the scene after the devastation caused by the Tsunami. It's worth a watch.

Movie Review - Midnight's Children

Watched " Midnight's Children " - The script is based on Salman Rushdie's book by the same name which won the Booker prize in 1981 and the Best of Booker prize in 1993 and 2008. It is well directed by Deepa Mehta of ' Earth ', ' Fire ' and ' Water ' trilogy fame. Though the book is very vast, only major aspects are taken into consideration and much light is not shed on the details as per the book. A hard hitting political drama about a Muslim family. The screenplay travels from India's colonialism, India after independence, India's war with Pakistan, the Emergency period and so on. It is aptly supported by a good narration from Salman Rushdie and cinematography. One movie which deserves critical acclaim. It is an artistic movie and not for the regular cine goers.

Movie Review - Vishwaroop

Watched " VISHWAROOP " - This movie rightly rests solely on Kamal Haasan's shoulders and is sure to make good business in India and abroad. It's about the radical Islamist terrorism based in North Asia and in the US. There are some ghastly scenes picturised. Muslims might not like this movie as the terrorists are shown as hardcore followers of Islam. Rahul Bose plays an important role too. The life of a jihadi is shown in detail throughout the movie. There are some cool action scenes and Mr Haasan looks so elegant even at his age. It should make for a good watch this weekend.

Movie Review - David

Watched " DAVID " - It's about 3 different David's from different era's. Bejoy Nambiar ' Johnny Gaddar fame ' is the director. The screenplay is good but the script is confusing. The first half keeps you engaged with it's twists and turns but the second half get's boring towards the end. The story about the Goan drunkard, David is the most entertaining among the three. All the actors are just ok in their roles. There's not much scope to display extraordinary skills. This movie is a part of experimental cinema and has much to offer for the thinking viewer. Watch it only if you wish to.
